Introduction: Hello to Everybody!

Let us introduce ourselves. We are High School students that attend the Theoretical Lyceum " Mihai Eminescu' from Chisinau, Moldova. We are very friendly, hard-working and sociable, but sometimes talkative enough. Sure, we can get serious, when we want. Therefore we find school life very interesting, there are ay least some cases when we get nervous, even anxious, especially before tests, but we are very happy that we can get over problems together, like a team, like a family. We hate bad marks, but...a bad mark is just another motivation for us to get engaged in studying. We love every subject...in its way.

We like math because it makes us think more and deeper and to become objective about situations. We like languages because it makes us more sociable and self-confident making us be able to face new situations. Moreover we like Physical Education because practicing it, needs no intellectual effort, so everybody is able to do it. We like everything. We are optimists. Be like us and get to know us better!

So, this is a short video about the team members. We decided to create the video using one of educational platforms. Enjoy watching it!!!

We studied carefully the Convention of Children Rights, even we had debates concerning some of them. In the video below we tried to show our idea about the rights of the children. Children all over the world should enjoy their lives as kids in their own country surrounded by dear and kind people. So, we duscussed the convention, had debates, fightings and arguments. Our teacher Mrs. Mariana decided to take everything under control and devided the tasks among us; some had to study more carefully the convention, other students tried to think about some feautures they want to see and share in the video, and of course to think how to present our progect due to variety of choices.

Again we agreed to present the result of our team coloborationn in the video, So, in the video below we can see how we interprete this topic.

So, we are greatly satisfied to be selected to take part in this project, we expect a lot from it.

We are at the beginning of a new era in children’s rights – one that promises to be exciting with an abundance of significant legal, administrative, bureaucratic and personal challenges. The topic of children’s rights seems to challenge people and, in Moldova as well as other countries, there has been a great deal of discussion and comment in the media, the government and the public arena. There are widely diverging views, some of which claim that ‘children should be seen and not heard’, an outdated maxim of a time before children’s rights were protected – yet this sentiment is still held within communities around the world. At the other end of the scale, some people claim that they have nothing to offer in the area of children’s rights since they consider the human rights arena to be territory for lawyers and judges; they often remark that the area should be left to the experts. Increasingly, though, the children’s rights movement has focused attention on the urgent need to educate children, the community and the professions about children’s rights and, in particular, to learn about the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). If the new era of children’s rights is to flourish, then a concentrated campaign of community awareness must take place. One major part of the community awareness and education campaign should focus on teaching children about their rights.

We wish to establish a friendly relationship with the students from the other groups.

Contributions Challenge 1:

We sincerely believe that everybody on Earth has the same rights. As our class is more about creativity than just facts, we decided to record a rap song about human rights. We hope you like it.

Here are the lyrics:

What's the amaziest thing in this world?

Is the nature?

The animal? The bird?

Is it sunset that we can see?

Or the waves of the biggest sea?

Surely they're so beautiful,

But, would they be so much beloved?

If on the Earth would not be living

An incredible, like us, human being.

We're controlling all on the Earth,

But do we remember the rights we deserve?

Democracy, love, freedom, respect.

All of us have them so don't forget!

Don't forget to help one another

Or to understand an issue inside them

Respect the difference between you and me

And we'll live in harmony

So tell me you, that listen my song,

Who makes this planet brighter than sun

Those who's rights are unharmed and honored

Or who's power's to harm and dishonor

Living in society means some things

It's not about some obligations or big threats

But the person who stands behind all of this

His wisdom to know that he isn't the only one

In the world! We're controlling all on the Earth,

But do we remember the rights we deserve?

Democracy, love, freedom, respect.

All of us have them so don't forget!

Children are the base of the society. the future is held in the new generation's hands. Even though the fate of the humanity is in our arms, we are very vulnerable. our rights should and need to be respected. We, as a team of teenagers want to express our wish of being understood and respected by the society and protected by law. Children labour is a common problem in poor countries, and the fact that it exists should affect the international arena. We are not selfish. We care about every child's rights and we are ready to make a change among us. We feel our responsibility, but we don't fear it. Be like us! Be responsible!

Our perfect school

How does a perfect school looks like?

Hmmm...It is a very interesting question for us, students, as we often tend to criticize the educational system, its rules and almost everything related to it, including the school building itself.

Let's try and imagine the perfect school...It is not the hardest thing to do as we, students have a really good imagination. A perfect school would be a big one, but in the same way, cosy for everybody. Of course, it should be clean and should be having a professional cleaninga and security staff. Studying is not by far the easiest task to accomplish and that is why we, students, should feel a safe and comfortable atmosphere. The education through modern thechnology is always welcome as studies show that it is the most effective, that is why every class should have computers, interactive boards and wireless internet. One thing that was mentioned by my classmates is that the presence of coolers in the hall would be desired. We can not judge objectivelly all the educational methods as we have conflicts of the interest :D. But we want our teacher staff to remain as professional and as talented as they are now.

Hi to All The Children of The World,

Thank you very much for participating in this project and the experiences you have shared with us. It was great!
Now, I can say that We need to enshrine children’s rights in law. Freedom is a sacred and essential right that all human beings possess. It is the power to act in accordance with its will, while respecting the law and the rights of others.
Children have rights and liberties like adults: to have an opinion, to express it and to meet in order to share their point of view But children are more fragile and vulnerable than adults. So, until they become adults, the liberties of children are more restricted in order to ensure their security and well-being. I remember being a 9-year old, expressing my point of view and not being taken seriously.  I was furious.  I felt I had a better answer than the adult engaging with me, but I was not listened to because I was a child.
     So c
hildren are helpless.  In some places, they are prized for their small hands because they can get into places in machines where adults have trouble. They also work for free, as slaves, or for next to nothing.  They are easy to intimdate and control.
As a result children have the right to life and the right to develop both physically and mentally. They should be protected from external threats and dangers, for example, abuse, severe deprivation and illness. They should be provided with whatever is necessary for their healthy development and general well-being.    Also children have the right to be listened to, to be included in decisions and to be valued as equal members of our society. Some may argue that children are less-experienced and not able to take decisions. I would argue rather that children are more willing to call a spade. Anyone who has truly listened to a child has come away enriched and enlightened. Why do we deny children a voice? And why can we not enshrine this right to be heard and empowered in our law?

Furthermore children's rights should concern all children. They should be based on the following principles as : Children may not be discriminated against;  Adults should do what is best for a child; A child has the right to life and development.
In Moldova  UNICEF  has the duty and ability to do more for realization of child rights. Despite the progress, some disparities still exist, which prevent most vulnerable and disadvantaged children from living in dignity, reaching their full potential and making choices about their future.
However they are not only morally bound to support children enjoy their rights, but also to help them develop to their fullest potential. As future leaders of this country, children hold the key to social well-being and economic prosperity.
I think that it is the job of all governments to pass laws that protect children's rights. No
matter where you are in the world, every child has the same rights, and no one can take them away from you. The world needs to work together to make life better for children, especially children in the world's poorest countries.

What about you? What are the freedoms of the children in your vision? What needs to be done  for living a quiet and peaceful Life ?

Looking forward to hearing from you soon!

Thank you for your time,

Loredana, 18  years old.

Hello,

My Name is Sorin Olteanu, I’m from Chișinău, Moldova. I am 17 years old and I study in the 11th grade of The High School “Mihai Eminescu”. For the last months, our class, with our teacher Mariana Beschieru as a coordinator, was part of the Children’s Rights Challenge that improved our knowledge in terms of children labor, education and general rights.

During The Learning Circle, we found out more about what rights we, as a part of the society, have. Sharing our experience with others, and observing the works shared with us, made our vision on the world more complex and full. We really enjoyed every single topic of the challenge, especially because they required imagination and creativity in promoting a good cause. The rap and the video were our favorites, as we were able to express every single bit of our ingenuity. We are very glad that our work was appreciated, as we looked through the feedback of the page.

Nowadays, even with the powerful and newest technology, people still do not know much about how many children around the world are used in different purposes, thus violating their fundamental rights, such as the right to live, to freedom, to a family, to a home, to education, etc. One of the biggest surprises for the majority of people, are children labor and children used in armored conflicts, also known as wars. I think this is a major problem of the modern society, that even with the connectivity all around the world nobody really cares about children being used as soldiers or laborers. The first move to abolition of these breaches would be their publicizing on social networks. This way, more people will be aware of this existing case, and thus, more people will be involved in its suppression. The second step will be the creation or using of existing companies or funds to engage a complex movement to fight these inequalities. The third step will be the publication of the results, because people need to know that their money and involvement made a real change, and got closer to the final purpose of the movement, the harmony in children’s lives. I think that we can change the world together, by using the common force of lots of human beings that are ready to improve the world they live in. Enough of egoism, it is time to think of others, in a world of indifference and anxiety.

In conclusion, I can say that nothing is perfect, and the social problems will exist as long as humans exist, but even if we cannot erase the children’s rights violation, we can still decrease the bad influence on them. The change comes with us, and through us, and if you want to make a change, you must start with yourself.

I’m happy that I had the opportunity to be a part of this project in which I learnt a lot of new and useful things about children rights all around the world. I also had the opportunity to find out what do people from different countries think about this major problem.

The full list of rights for children and young people under the age of 18 is known as children’s rights and it includes the right to health, education, family life, play and recreation, an adequate standard of living and to be protected from abuse and harm. Children’s rights cover their developmental and age-appropriate needs that change over time as a child grows up. But unfortunately not all these rights are respected and not all around the world. Children are victim of child abuse in their family, school or in public environment and these types of bad actions can have severe consequences in their mental and physical health that can also rest for the rest of their life. A number of adults use violence as an arm to punish their children. In this situation, the children consider the abuses as a punishment and try to hide their pain because they fill guilty of misbehaving. For that reason, children comply with that situation in believing that it is a normal part of their life. This kind of treatment can have a very bad and insidious repercussion, leaving children with irreversible troubles in their behaviors. Traumatized, they are more likely to become rough and negligent adults toward children. But what is the worst is that there’re people that know about that and they don’t do anything, in fact, governments do not consider the gravity of these practices. Thus, they do not try to take measures to raise awareness and to prevent such practices. That’s why we should try and start to do something. This problem must be discussed in schools so that every child will about the situation, about what is right and what is wrong. So that the ones that are abused will know that that is not normal and will announce somebody they trust so that he could help them. We should spend more time socializing than in mobile phones to know more about our friends and know if they have any problems and if someone abuses them.

That’s why I think that this kind of projects are important. They help us to know more about the situation in other countries and about the reaction of students towards this major problem. Each of them show their attitude through song, videos, animations and drawings. Also if somebody has been abused or have friends that had this problem, he can say it to the world so that everybody could know and support or help him. This project gives the others to express themselves and to say what they think while for the others is a source of information linked to children’s rights and bullying.

Kate.

We're very glad we've been a part of this community, moreover it was a pleasant chance to be informed and study a lot about children's rights around the world. Therefore, we found out interesting facts about each school. Unfortunately, we were not able to accomplish the last task due to final exams, but we;d like to thank you for everything.

We wish everybody have a nice vacation and all the happiness in the world.

We are waiting for other challenges coming from your team.

Sincerely yours,

the students of the "Mihai Eminescu" Lyceum.

We liked the fact that you introduced everyone in their class in a unique way. We liked how each and everyone in your class  had different hobbies and different things that they were especially good at. I think that you should consider creating interesting facts about your school and your community so that we could get to know what it’s like in there. I especially liked the special effects that you used. How did you add those special effects and what software did you use to edit the video? We also liked the quality in the video, the audio and the camera was good. We also liked how the video didn’t have anyone talking but it was very informative about the class. We would like to see more of what your school and community looks like. Have you considered keeping the slides longer so that we have a much longer time to thoroughly read all the information? Overall, we thought that it was very excellent, and well done.

Hi! Thanks for providing feedback on our page! Here is our response to your questions!!

Tweedsmuir Public School is named for Lord Tweedsmuir, Sir John Buchan, who was Governor General of Canada from 1935 to 1940. Our school was built in 1959 and educates students from Kindergarten to Grade 8. We have around 380 students in our school who are active in sports, technology, and in academics. Our school is a multicultural and has a friendly environment. We bring our staff and students together through Colour House assemblies and sporting events. Every month, students from each class get rewarded for good deeds that they show in class, such as responsibility, teamwork, and fairness. Canada is the second-largest country in the world, right after Russia. Canada has 10 provinces. Ontario is Canada’s second-largest province, it is where London, Toronto (Canada’s Largest city), and the capital of Canada, Ottawa, is found. Canada is known for its love of hockey, maple syrup, and it’s friendly environment.

Feedback from: Gymnasium #2

Hello! Could you tell about your relation with teachers? How do you spend computer science lessons?

All the best, Valia B. and Sasha B. from Gymnasium 2.

Hello,

We would be glad to answer your questions.

Firstly, we have a very good relationship with all of our teachers. Every one of them has a different opinion and teching style. For instance, biology and chemistry teachers like to divide lessons into clearly structured parts. The maths teacher values pupils' attitude towards homework and lessons.

Our computer science lessons are especially cool. We write Pascal programs for 4 years already. The teacher understood that every one of us has his own learning tempo, that's why most lessons we spend time in front of the PCs while the teacher just answers questions and checks if tasks are being solved correctly.
